Mamello Clinical Solutions recently completed a comprehensive turnkey project at a small healthcare facility at Pankop, north of Tshwane on the border between Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
The project represents is an example of how facilities such as these can be successfully planned and implemented in South Africa.
It also mirrors global trends in healthcare, where specialist companies partner with public and private institutions to undertake turnkey healthcare projects that are of the highest international standards and tailored to local needs.
In Pankop, the local building contractor lacked the necessary expertise and contacts with suppliers to specify, purchase and install the necessary medical equipment. This was addressed through the appointment of MCS’s team to oversee the project.
Apart from the supply of imaging equipment, MCS procured and installed other necessary items such as ventilators, blood pressure cuffs, ECG machines and items required for minor surgical procedures.
The the scope for equipment was broadened for the supply of many other items, ranging from beds to kitchen utensils and even garden equipment.
This turnkey project meant that MCS could offer the contractor all the professional know-how necessary for a “one-stop” solution.
A key advantage, as has been found internationally as well, is the fact that the construction company had to deal with just one supplier, making the project simpler, quicker and more cost-effective to manage. For the clinic management and patients, this means that the new facility is able to deal with the typical medical emergencies and other routine cases with the correct equipment and without being hindered by unnecessary delays
